Fishing Has Been Fire!!!

Oh my word. The last few charters have been fishing focused, and they have all caught fish. Mainly we are getting Reds and trout in the mangroves. Still a couple of sheepshead, jumped a snook, and the anoying catfish. Heck, one charter brought in 3 stingrays. Well, not all the way in, but they were a fun fight and the folks had not really done a lot of fishing.

One of the things that we pride ourselves on is "teaching". I love having a kid on the boat who has never caught a fish, or not caught a trout or red or snook . . . you get the idead. We focus on live bait mostly and when the shrimp or the finger mullet or pogie gets hit and they feel the fish pulling, they can't help but smile. The kid--or the kid at heart--can't "unforget" that.

Not only that, but sitting down and teaching knots or rigging or casting techniques is so much fun.

If you didn't know, the Indian River and Banana River lagoons are renowned fishing destinations along Florida’s Space Coast. There's an extensive network of mangrove islands that provide ideal habitat for many popular game fish, including redfish, snook, spotted seatrout, and tarpon. In our area, this network is call the "1,000 Islands".

The tangled roots of mangroves offer shelter, food, and nursery areas for juvenile fish, while also attracting larger predators that anglers target throughout the year. Fishermen often focus on the shorelines, points, and channels surrounding these islands, where fish gather to feed.
